Mark and I had a handfull of cash to give out. Stomping something fresh got you cash! A rail jam on Mt. Seymour.

The all flat rail jam started off with the drive up the very foggy and bendy road to Mt. Seymour.

On mountain as we were setting up, it was foggy with some rain.

Not that, that stoped local shreddereds from coming to Jam!

Mark Sollors and I guest Jugded the contest. All flat rail jam. The course had two features, a down rail and a double wall with handrails. It was jibtastic! Mark and I both had a handfull of cash to give out. Stomping something fresh got some cash. We picked Six riders for the finals, then jamed it out for 1st 2nd 3r and 4th.

The riders killed it! Didnt matter the fog, rain, or snow a bunch of riders came out to shred. A group of people that love to snowboard dispite the weather came together to sesh some rails for cash, keeping the snowboard industry as core as the sport it is. Good jod to all the riders to came to ride and through down!

First place went to Matt Munn

Second place went to Ryoki Ogawa

Mt. Baldy Slackcountry Cup Weekend

Slack Country Cup on Mt. Baldy Mountain, Only using the Bare essentials
My Baldy weekend stories!

Our Mt. Baldy adventures started on the chair lift in Big White when Mr. J Hilton said Mt. Baldy staff day was the next day.

Thrusday

Conrad and I woke up eary and drove towards the baldy zone. We stoped in Penticton for a coffee and to see the Lake frost in the mornig. From Penticton we headed to Osoyoos, the last stop before Baldy. Afternoon we landed in Baldy, as soon as we got there we jumped into our shred gear. Another adventure in baldy!

Baldy is only open for the weekends. This was a Thursday! Josh, Mt. Blady's main man it was his birthday so the resort was opened for a staff day. We rocked up and they told us we were late! love that place. Real people, real mountain life.

When the lefts closed at 3, The Ride guys Jay (Mr. Hilton), Steve (Scuba), Ian (Holiday), and Andy (Bill), plus some North shore friends from Big White, met up at the Baldy Lodge. All had our eyes fixed on the hip that was just made out of the side of the hill/The main road. Baldy style, so RAD!

We all adventured up to the cabin we were staying in "The Honkey Tonk Cabin".

Food and beverage Bill (Andy) started cooking up a storm after some casual drinks at the Honkey Tonk. Josh came over for some food and drinks to celebrate his birthday. The cat driver came over for some birthday drinks aswell. He had over heard our talk about the hip, so he propose he grab the cat and shine the lights on the hip so we could night shred. It was awesome!

Friday

We rode the hip until the cat's battery died. They had to jump start the cat with another cat. At that point I thought that this was the end of my first night in Baldy... But how wrong was I.

Back at the Honkey Tonk we all carried on drink the delicious Big Surf beer, in the awesome double hot tub! After the tub Mr.Hilton and a few others thought it would be the best idea to grab the GT Racers and race down the hill on them. Best idea ever! With a local at baldy we were shuttled with the GT's in the back of the truck. Jump in and hold on. He drove us to the top of the Mt. Baldy cabins, where his cabin was. He lived right on the hill... 4 or 5 runs later we decided to call last run all the way down to the bottom. Shredding down the last GT run we had lost Mr.Hilton on the way down. So instead of driving up the road to find him, we decided to boom up the ski hill in the truck to find Hilton... Hanging on for dear life in the cab of this truck with a bunch of GT racers.. It Didn't work as well as the driver thought it would. We had it pretty far before it just completely sank into the snow. Some time of digging later, one the the guys suggested that he grab his truck to pull this one out. About 10 mins after he left we see 2 head lights charge right for us, snow spraying everywhere. One of the boys from north van says" hey that trucks looks like the work truck".. And kinda left it at that until the truck got to us and the stuck truck. When in fact it was his work truck... and now we have 2 trucks stuck on the ski hill. The cat had to rescue both trucks that night. Lesson learned don't leave your keys in your truck in baldy and be ready for any adventure to come you way come apon. That was my first night in Baldy.

The next morning started off with the Honkey Tonk crew sharing our stories from the pervious night. Food and beverage Bill killed it with a mean breaky to start our shred day. After breaky we rocked to the Ride guys cabin to set up some next years shred sticks for our Baldy shred day.

Saturday

The first day of the contest! It was crazy how fast the weather can change at Baldy. It went from sunny blue bird day to the next day with crazy white out conditions.. Not ideal for the comp, but we all registered and headed up to the course. Once at the course, Scuba and Josh made the call to push the comp to the next day. So we would ride 2 locations in one day instead of 2 days, 2 runs on each location. Since all the riders were on location Scuba decided to do a Chinese downhill to the bottom. First one down gets a gopro.

That evening it was the hip/rail jam! The winning trick off the hip was a double backflip tail... Like a boss.

Sunday; the actual contest. All the riders had one run on the 2 locations. It was awesome everyone was cheering on the riders. The sun came out and made the day.

Cayoosh Adventures

I have had two Cayoosh missions so far this season here's some stories of our missions.

I couldnt have gotten such a rad set up this year with out the help of some awesome people, Lauren Ritz for donating her old compact, Jenine for getting me Karakoram Bindings, The Ride guys for the support and straps, and Brad at Super Natural Splitnoardz for Cutting my board in half the right way :)

Our First mission started with cutting my skins for my new split board.

Cayoosh missions

Christina and I adventured out to the Cayoosh zone in the am to check out how long the split was to the cabin and what the clear cut infront if the cabin looked like.

The second time I adventured out to the Cayoosh zone, Conrad and I planned an over nighter. The misson outline was to leave Whistler in the early am, tour to the cabin drop off the gear then tour to the top of mt. Cayoosh peak.

We got to the bottom of the lazy boy shoot right before the ridge traverce over to Cayoosh peak. There we toured up the side ridgeto were there was a nice little shoot into a pillow/tree line. That was our first day mission.Back to the cabin to start melting and boilng some snow so were could cook some pasta. As the water was just boiling we heard a tap on the window, I opened up the door expecting some hikers, but it was Christina, Sam, and Stefan with his dog petey.

We all made a big dinner drank some wine and enjoyed some good cabin life.

Cerise Creek Scout Adventure

You know that feeling; when you wake up, you already know that it's going to be an awesome day. Thats how this day started off. On our way form whistler to Pemberton, thoughts were running through our heads, thinking if we packed everything we needed, what kind of weather were we expecting. Just getting amped on a new adventure. We stopped at our friends place to make a game plan and get all the gear sorted.  5-6 beckon practice searches later, were we Duffy bound! With some great pump up music blasting in the car our adventure was started. Unpacking all the gear from the truck and car Toddy, Niekia, Conrad and I each took turns finding a beckon under the snow. Skins were on, back packs were packed, on our way you Cerise Creek.

We knew riding was just a small part in our trip, main focus was to take in the area as much as we could. Look at different zones, what could be avi danger and what looks safe. Our entries and exits. Cerise Creek is about 8 kms from highway 99, evaluation gain is only 305m. The skin/snow shoe trail takes you to Keith's Hut, also known as Cerise cabin. A memorial cabin. We stopped at Keith's Hut had a sandwich break, warmed up relaxed a bit then hiked the ridge to the right side on the cabin. Once we got to the top, better safe then sorry we checked put what what kind of snow we were riding on. Hiking up the ridge, all the right hand side of us had some crazy shouts down to another bowl. Looked pretty awesome! After we slashed our last slash of the day , it was exit time. the sun was leaving fast.

In conclusion this area has endless lines, lots of entries, cliff drops, tree runs, shoots, new trainee , epic times to come. Now that the scout adventure is over, it's time for the planed over night adventure. Till next time :)

Mount Baldy Bare Essentials Contest

The Mount Baldy ALL NATURAL back country event was a definite season high light! The day started out with the sunrise on a new mountain.

The Mount Baldy ALL NATURAL country event was a definite season high light! The day started out with the sunrise on a new mountain. I was like a little kid at a candy store, couldn't spot looking at different sick spots. Just imaging how fun it would if everything had 30 of fresh on it.

All the riders started at the bottom of the course at the demo tents. Then rope toed with sleds to the top of the course. The ride up we went across the course, so you could check your run out a bit. From the top you could only see 2 marks marking the course boundaries Trees and no tracks; A black canvas. We had 2 runs to be creative, clean, and through down.

I had an awesome time! Smiles all day, good weather, and shred time. Cant wait for next years.
